Scooter rider killed in Oakland hit-and-run

OAKLAND — A 49-year-old man driving an electrical scooter was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run collision within the Uptown space, authorities stated.

The title of the person has not but been launched by police.

The collision occurred about 11:24 a.m. Sunday on the intersection of 18th Road and San Pablo Avenue.

Police stated the person killed was driving an electrical scooter that had a seat and was touring northbound on San Pablo Avenue within the pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck by a Mazda 6 station wagon that  was touring southbound on San Pablo and had simply made a left flip onto 18th Road.

The scooter rider was caught underneath the automobile which continued on for a number of ft earlier than stopping.  The motive force then fled the realm on foot, police stated.

After being extricated from underneath the automobile the scooter rider was taken to a hospital the place he was pronounced lifeless.

An in depth description of the driving force of the Mazda has not been launched.

Police haven’t but decided if medication or alcohol have been elements in what occurred.
