Guitars, ukuleles stolen from Dublin Elementary Faculty

DUBLIN — A thief, or a number of thieves, allegedly stole 30 stringed-instruments from Dublin Elementary Faculty over the summer season break and now the local people is fundraising to purchase new ones.

Whoever stole 25 Yamaha JR1 wooden grain acoustic guitars and 5 Kala Model Music Co. ukuleles from the college received away undetected, in accordance with Dublin Police. Faculty officers found the lacking tools throughout a list test on Aug. 8. The overall loss is $2,750, police stated.

“At this time, there are no leads as to who may have been responsible for the theft,” Dublin Police spokesman Miguel Campos stated.

Within the wake of the housebreaking, which reportedly leaves the college’s fifth grade class guitar-less, Dublin resident Jason Altomare launched a GoFundMe marketing campaign to boost $5,000 to exchange the stolen devices. The Yamaha guitars are priced at about $180 every on the corporate’s web site, whereas the ukuleles, that are a part of the Petaluma-based firm’s Makala line, begin at about $60. By Wednesday morning, the marketing campaign raised $3,795.

The burglar or burglars entered the music room by means of a door that was left unlocked attributable to ongoing development and renovations, in accordance with Dublin Colleges spokesman Chip Dehnert.

“I don’t have a specific date, and we do not know anything about the person or persons who committed the crime,” he added.

The varsity’s principal known as the pilfering a “disappointing and inconvenient setback,” however assured the neighborhood “it is only a bump in the road” for the younger musicians. In the meantime, the college’s music instructor, TJ Jones-Heintz, will prepare for college kids to proceed studying about music by means of different devices.

“We are grateful for the generosity and support of our community, who have stepped forward to help us replace the stolen items,” Principal Laura McGovern stated in an announcement. “This response reflects the Dublin spirit and helps to ensure our students never miss a beat.”
