A zoo in northern Denmark is asking pet homeowners to donate their undesirable guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and even small horses – to not put them on show however to feed them to the zoo’s predators.

“Chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs form an important part of the diet of our predators,” it wrote within the publish alongside a picture of openmouthed, sharp-toothed lynx.
“That way, nothing goes to waste — and we ensure natural behavior, nutrition and well-being of our predators,” the zoo added.

It’s not the primary time that Denmark’s zoos have come below scrutiny for the way in which they feed their animals and management populations.
