No sweat: Humanoid robots run a Chinese language half-marathon alongside flesh-and-blood opponents

BEIJING (AP) — In a single small step for robot-kind — hundreds of them, actually — humanoid robots ran alongside precise people in a half-marathon within the Chinese language capital on Saturday.

The bipedal robots of varied makes and sizes navigated the 21.1-kilometer (13.1-mile) course supported by groups of human navigators, operators, and engineers, in what occasion organizers say was a primary. As a precaution, a divider separated the parallel programs utilized by the robots and folks.

Whereas flesh-and-blood members adopted typical guidelines, the 20 groups fielding machines within the Humanoid Robotic Half-Marathon competed below tailor-made pointers, which included battery swap pit stops.
