NEW DELHI: A month after the demise of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, the Singapore Police Pressure (SPF) has stated that it doesn’t suspect any “foul play” within the case, whereas confirming that the investigation is ongoing.Garg, 52, died on September 19 from drowning whereas swimming off St John’s Island in Singapore. He was visiting the city-state as a cultural model ambassador for the North East India Competition, which was scheduled for September 20–21.In an announcement launched on Friday, the SPF urged the general public to not flow into unverified data relating to the singer’s demise.“The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is aware of speculation and false Information circulating online regarding the circumstances of Mr Zubeen Garg’s death. The case is currently being investigated by the SPF, in accordance with Singapore’s Coroners Act 2010. Based on preliminary investigations, the SPF does not suspect foul play,” the SPF stated.The SPF added that the investigation “may take up to another three months or so” to finish. The findings will then be submitted to the “State Coroner” for a “Coroner’s Inquiry.”On October 1, 2025, the SPF shared a duplicate of the post-mortem report and preliminary findings with the Excessive Fee of India.“Despite the fact that SPF is still in the midst of its investigations, on 1 October 2025, it extended a copy of the autopsy report of the late Mr Garg, and SPF’s preliminary findings, to the High Commission of India upon their request,” the assertion stated.In the meantime, Assam Police’s Particular Investigation Staff (SIT) has arrested seven individuals in reference to Garg’s demise since October 1. All of them have been remanded to judicial custody.
