The VTA introduced the pilot program after members of Amalgamated Transit Union Native 265 voted overwhelmingly to reject the company’s newest contract supply.

The proposal provided an 11% increase over three years in change for the union agreeing to proposals that would cut back absenteeism, in addition to language relating to arbitration that either side agreed to and a compromise relating to holidays.

In an announcement, the VTA stated it had put ahead a “more than fair proposal that ensures employees receive competitive pay and strong benefits for themselves and their families.”

“VTA’s latest proposal reflects our commitment to our workforce,” the company stated, “and we urge our employees to embrace this chance to secure their future and return to work.”

The union walked off the job March 10 after negotiations for a brand new contract fell aside the week earlier than, primarily as a result of two sides disagreeing on arbitration language and the dimensions of a pay increase. The strike has impacted roughly 100,000 individuals.

Extra details about the voucher program is accessible on the company’s web site.
