Vote now: Bay Space Information Group boys athlete of the week

Luis Echeveria, James Lick soccer: The senior scored two targets and dished out two assists to steer Lick to a 7-1 win over Oak Grove. James Lick is 1-1-1 to begin the season. 

Nick Henderson, Sequoia basketball: Henderson scored 26 factors within the Ravens’ 59-46 win over Cupertino. Sequoia is 1-2 this season. 

Cannon Jenkins, El Cerrito soccer: Jenkins scored the game-winning landing and had an interception in El Cerrito’s 20-16 win over Menlo-Atherton within the NorCal Division 4-A title sport. El Cerrito will face Beckman-Irvine for the Division 4-A championship on Saturday at Buena Park Excessive College. 

Matthew Lundag, Washington-Fremont basketball: The junior scored 22 factors to steer Washington to a 68-42 win over Buena Park. The Huskies are 3-2 this season. 

Malachi Nunsuch, Berean Christian basketball: The senior had 37 factors and 11 rebounds in a 67-62 win over KIPP King. Berean Christian is 2-0. 

Dereon Ourm-Blackman, Antioch basketball: Ourm-Blackman scored 17 factors in Antioch’s 67-43 victory over Napa. Antioch (2-3) will play Heritage on Tuesday.  

Michael Scavotto, St. Francis soccer: The senior had a hat trick within the Lancers’ 8-0 win over Evergreen Valley. St. Francis is undefeated by means of two video games this season. 

Josh Sheehy, Northgate soccer: The senior scored two targets and dished out an help to steer Northgate to a 3-2 win over School Park. Northgate is 2-0-1 this season. 

Zui Shelton, St. Ignatius soccer: Shelton caught a 31-yard landing cross in St. Ignatius’ 17-13 win over Monte Vista within the NorCal Division 3-AA title sport. The Wildcats will play Ventura for the 3-AA state championship on Friday at Fullerton UHSD Stadium. 

Michael Whitelaw, Lincoln-San Jose soccer: Whitelaw scored the game-tying 64-yard landing catch in Lincoln’s 28-20 win over Gridley within the NorCal Division 6-AA title sport. Lincoln will play Valley Heart for the 6-AA state crown on Friday at Fullerton UHSD Stadium.
