Toyota recollects over 443,000 vans for potential reverse mild failure

Toyota is recalling greater than 443,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vans over a fault of their reverse lights that would make them cease working.

The automaker stated in a report back to the Nationwide Freeway Site visitors Security Administration (NHTSA) that the multi-layer vent patch within the reverse mild assemblies of the recalled 2022-2025 mannequin 12 months Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vans “may separate over time due to thermal cycling, compromising the adhesive and allowing moisture to enter.” The moisture may result in corrosion of the interior circuit board, connector or wire harness and trigger a lamp to not illuminate.

FORD RECALLS MORE THAN 273,000 SUVS OVER BRAKING ISSUE

Failure of the reverse lights within the vans due to the difficulty may restrict the driving force’s rear visibility throughout “low ambient light conditions” and depart others on the street with out a clear sign that the vans are backing up, the recall report stated. 

The automaker stated the recall “only affects the 2022-2025MY Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with reverse lamp assemblies of a specific design using a specific adhesive for the vent patch.”

Toyota stated in a press launch that it’ll inform affected Tundra and Tundra Hybrid house owners of the difficulty and the way the automaker is fixing it by mid-July. The recall report listed the notification date for house owners of the doubtless affected vans as June 30 to July 14.

“Dealers will replace both reverse lamp assemblies with improved ones, free of charge,” the automaker stated. “In addition, assembly wiring harnesses will be repaired for any subject vehicles identified to have corrosion that has extended into the wire harness connector, free of charge.”
