From April 26 to September 14, 2025, the Nationwide Galleries of Scotland current the exhibition “The World of King James VI and I”.

Marking the 400-year anniversary of King James’s dying, this exhibition charts his exceptional reign by way of tales of friendship, household, feuds and ambition.  

Drawing on themes with modern relevance together with nationwide identification, queer historical past, perception and spirituality, The World of King James VI and I is an enriching journey by way of the complicated lifetime of a King who modified the form of the UK. Over 100 objects are on show, together with ornate work, dazzling jewels, lavish designs and vital loans from galleries throughout the UK, celebrating craft and visible artwork from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
