Suspect arrested in stabbing of Gilroy grocery retailer employee

GILROY – One man is behind bars and one other is in steady situation following a stabbing at a grocery retailer in Gilroy, police stated.

An investigation revealed the suspect, recognized as 31-year-old Derek Bell, walked into an employee-only space and was requested to depart. Police stated Bell as a substitute threw an object at an worker.

A second worker, recognized as a 51-year-old man, approached Bell and informed him to depart. That’s when Bell pulled out a knife and stabbed the worker, police stated.

The worker was rushed to an space hospital, the place he’s listed in steady situation, police stated.

Bell left the grocery store after the stabbing, however officers shortly discovered him, police stated. He was arrested on suspicion of tried homicide and booked into Santa Clara County jail.

Bell is being held with out bail on the Predominant Jail in San Jose, in response to jail data. He’s scheduled to look in courtroom Thursday.
