The Mangaluru Central-Subrahmanya Highway-Mangaluru Central Passenger that now runs with diesel locomotive will run with electrical loco consequent to electrification of Mangaluru Junction-Subrahmanya Highway from September 15, Southern Railway headquarters stated in a notification on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) right here.
Three spherical journeys are made every single day by the passenger practice with Prepare Nos. 56625/26, 56627/28 and 56629/30 between Mangaluru Central and Subrahmanya Highway (SBHR). Southern Railway Locos
Although SBHR comes below Mysuru Division of South Western Railway, Southern Railway’s Palakkad Division has been offering the locos and rakes for the service due to operational comfort. Accordingly, the electrical loco could be supplied by SR, the notification stated.
Confirming the change in traction, a senior official with Palakkad Division stated there could be no change within the current timetable of the companies. Nonetheless, each the zones, SR and SWR, have been exploring the potential of deploying a mainline electrical a number of unit (MEMU) rake for the comfort of passengers and likewise reducng the journey time, he stated.
