Firefighters throughout the South Bay responded to 2 fires Wednesday that both broken or destroyed properties in San Jose and Mountain View.

A two-alarm fireplace erupted about 12:20 p.m., sending firefighters scrambling to a home on the 100 block of Scharff Avevue in East San Jose, in accordance with the San Jose Hearth Division. Hearth crews managed to deliver the flames underneath management by 12:34 p.m., the company reported on the social media web site X, previously referred to as Twitter.
