South Bay emergency shelters open as chilly snap begins

Officers within the South Bay opened emergency warming shelters Saturday night as chilly temperatures descended on the area.

In San Jose, an emergency shelter is open in a single day on the Roosevelt Neighborhood Heart, 901 E. Santa Clara St. The middle is an area for folks to heat up and sleep. Will probably be open via February 11, metropolis officers mentioned on X. No referrals or suggestions are wanted and pets are welcome.

Residents also can name the Here4You Hotline at 408-385-2400 for a referral to different warming facilities in Santa Clara County.

Chilly and frosty climate is predicted within the Bay space Saturday evening and into early subsequent week, in accordance with the Nationwide Climate Service. A low of 32 levels Fahrenheit is forecasted for Saturday evening. The chilly snap could also be harmful for “unsheltered and marginally sheltered” folks, the climate service mentioned. A frost advisory is in place for many of the Bay Space.
