SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman Vincent Desharnais from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday in trade for a 2028 fifth-round draft choose.

Desharnais, 28, has performed with each the Penguins and Vancouver Canucks this season. He had three assists and 34 penalty minutes in 34 video games with the Canucks earlier than he was moved to the Penguins on Feb. 1. In 10 video games with Pittsburgh, Desharnais had a +4 ranking, collected 4 penalty minutes and averaged 14:24 in ice time per sport.

In 158 profession NHL video games with Edmonton, Vancouver and Pittsburgh, Desharnais has 19 factors and 123 minutes.

Desharnais, a right-shot defenseman, is within the first 12 months of a two-year, $4 million contract that carries a $2 million cap hit.

The Sharks play the Colorado Avalanche in Denver on Thursday evening to finish a seven-game highway journey. Desharnais’s arrival offers the Sharks seven defensemen on their lively roster with Henry Thrun on injured reserve not less than till Saturday when the workforce hosts the New York Islanders.
