Introducing 5G eRedCap to Deal with Longevity Challenges for IoT

Sequans Communications S.A., a pioneer in mobile IoT know-how, proudly unveils its third-generation low-power semiconductor resolution, which consists of two new superior chips added to Sequans’ flagship Calliope and Monarch IoT product households.

By enabling a seamless transition from 4G low-speed modem classes to 5G eRedCap, these chips handle the longevity challenges confronted by most IoT functions. Moreover, they function a major leap in innovation, delivering main enhancements in energy consumption, integration, and value effectivity. The event of those chips advantages from the French 2030 grant awarded to Sequans in 2024 by the French authorities.

Calliope 3: Constructing on the success of the main Calliope 2 Cat 1bis resolution, Calliope 3 provides 5G NR eRedCap to LTE Cat 1bis, providing longevity with improved information charges and sturdy connectivity. This makes the Calliope product line an excellent resolution for IoT functions requiring dependable and costeffective connectivity, together with fleet administration, wearables, and safety gadgets.

Monarch 3: Finishing the best-in-class LTE-M/NB-IoT Monarch 2 resolution, Monarch 3 provides 5G NR eRedCap to LTE-M, offering longevity and ultra-low energy effectivity for a variety of mobile LPWA functions. The Monarch product line is designed to satisfy the rising demand in industries comparable to sensible metering, healthcare, and asset monitoring.

Customers of Calliope 2 (LTE Cat 1bis) and Monarch 2 (LTE-M/NB-IoT) now have a transparent roadmap to handle their transition to 5G NR eRedCap. Calliope 3 and Monarch 3 modules can be footprint and software program appropriate with Calliope 2 and Monarch 2 modules. Sequans plans to start offering samples to prospects in 2026.

“We are excited to introduce our new generation of cellular IoT semiconductors at Mobile World Congress 2025,” mentioned Georges Karam, CEO of Sequans.

“With the support of 5G eRedCap andenhanced performance, these new chips demonstrate our commitment to innovation and our dedication to providing our customers with the most advanced and efficient cellular connectivityaddressing their specific IoT needs.”

“As network operators plan their migration from 4G to 5G, it is critical to have 5G eRedCap semiconductors purpose-built for the IoT to achieve the cost and power efficiency needed for IoT applications,” mentioned Dan Shey, VP at ABI Analysis. “Offering products that enable a seamless transition of IoT applications from 4G to 5G eRedCap is extremely important so IoT application designers can develop future-proof products.”

Sequans is exhibiting at Cell World Congress 2025 from March third to March sixth in Corridor 5, Stand 5E61. Attendees are invited to go to and be taught extra about these new cutting-edge applied sciences.
