Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling to analyze alleged misuse of public funds

The Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling, rocked by controversy over the latest dismissal of its superintendent, has introduced an investigation into alleged misuse of public funds.

The Santa Clara County Workplace of Schooling supplies tutorial, enterprise, and expertise companies plus tutorial and monetary oversight and monitoring to the county’s 31 faculty districts. The SCCOE additionally straight serves college students via particular education schemes, different colleges, Head Begin and State Preschool packages, migrant training, and Alternative Youth Academy.

Board President Maimona Afzal Berta mentioned within the assertion that “any potential misuse of public funds needs to be investigated immediately,” and vowed to “ensure fiscal and operational oversight in accordance with state law and board policies, while being accountable to the citizens who elected us as fiduciaries of the public interest.”

Final month, Santa Clara County Superintendent of Colleges Mary Ann Dewan was abruptly fired and subsequently filed a lawsuit in opposition to the county Board of Schooling.

Dewan was faraway from her place by a 4-2 vote. Though the explanation for her dismissal was not instantly disclosed, reviews later emerged suggesting that her firing stemmed from alleged tensions with board members.
