BURLINGAME — A person who pointed a loaded firearm at police was in secure situation Saturday after being shot by officers with the San Mateo and Burlingame police departments, authorities mentioned.

The officers concerned within the incident have been positioned on administrative depart because the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s workplace conducts its investigation, per protocol.

Officers from the San Mateo Police Division responded to a report at 2:53 a.m. on Nov. 30 of potential gunshots close to the 800 block of North San Mateo Drive to see a person who pointed a firearm at police and ran. After calling for backup, officers pursued the suspect till a Burlingame police officer situated him at Jefferson Court docket and Peninsula Avenue.

Each Burlingame and San Mateo cops on the scene tried to de-escalate the scenario, however had been unsuccessful. They then fired a “less-lethal rubber projectile” to get the suspect to drop his firearm, in line with a press launch. After that additionally proved unsuccessful, one Burlingame officer and one San Mateo officer fired on the suspect, who fell to the bottom.

The officers offered him with medical support and transported him to a neighborhood hospital. They recognized his firearm as a .45-caliber Glock pistol. Authorities didn’t launch the suspect’s identify.
