San Jose State receives one other volleyball forfeit from convention foe

The Wyoming volleyball workforce has forfeited its match scheduled for Saturday in opposition to San Jose State, changing into the third workforce to take action this season as the talk about transgender athletes in girls’s sports activities swirls across the Spartans.

“After a lengthy discussion, the University of Wyoming will not play its scheduled conference match against San José State University in the UniWyo Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 5,” a press release posted to the Wyoming athletics’ web site learn.

Southern Utah and Boise State each forfeited matches in opposition to the Spartans final month with out citing a cause.

Michelle Smith McDonald, San Jose State’s senior director of media relations, mentioned final weekend that the college wouldn’t touch upon the gender id of any college students, citing federal privateness protections.

“We are operating our program under the regulations of both the NCAA and the Mountain West Conference. Our student athletes are in full compliance with NCAA rules and regulations,” learn a press release supplied by McDonald.

The Spartans (9-0, 2-0 Mountain West) are scheduled to play at Colorado State on Thursday, and as of now future matches in opposition to Wyoming and Boise State are nonetheless on the convention schedule.
