SAN JOSE — A safety guard was arrested final week on suspicion of assaulting an unhoused individual with a firearm in San Jose, police mentioned.
The incident occurred round 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 within the space of West San Carlos Road and Leland Avenue, within the metropolis’s Burbank neighborhood, in response to San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez.
Officers realized the suspect had chased the sufferer with a firearm, pushed him to the bottom and brandished a firearm, Hernandez mentioned, including that “the suspect was wearing a silver badge on his belt and appeared to be law enforcement or security.” The sufferer was not injured.
Detectives recognized the suspect as a 43-year-old San Jose man and found he was working as a guard for a San Jose-based safety firm, in response to Hernandez.
Hernandez mentioned detectives obtained an arrest warrant and an emergency gun violence safety order for the suspect, in addition to a search warrant for his dwelling.
On Sept. 11, the person was arrested and served with the order. He was booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of assault with a lethal weapon, in response to Hernandez.
