San Jose firefighters knock down two-alarm barn fireplace

SAN JOSE — Fireplace crews responded to a two-alarm fireplace at a barn in San Jose on Monday afternoon, bringing the flames beneath management in lower than an hour.

A fireplace was initially reported at 3:50 p.m. for a single-story home on the 2500 block of Monterey Street. Later, fireplace officers decided that the hearth was really on a small parallel road referred to as Healey Avenue and the construction on fireplace was really a barn, not a home. Visitors was briefly impacted in each instructions on Monterey Street.

The hearth was initially a full first alarm however it was upgraded to a second alarm at 3:55 p.m. The hearth was contained to the barn and didn’t unfold to the close by home.

There have been reside powerlines that had been down and needed to be deenergized by Pacific Fuel & Electrical, fireplace officers mentioned. There was additionally “exploding ammunition” saved contained in the barn, so fireplace crews started to assault the hearth from a defensive operation till the ammunition concern had resolved itself.

Whereas the hearth was being introduced beneath management, VTA service within the speedy space was interrupted and three canine had been taken off the property, in response to a put up on the social media platform X.

The hearth was knocked down at 4:45 p.m. with no accidents to residents or firefighters. The reason for the hearth is beneath investigation.
