MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP) — A police pursuit that started in New York Metropolis ended on Lengthy Island with the capturing demise of the motive force, and 7 cops and a civilian had been taken to hospitals for therapy, police mentioned.

Patrick Ryder, commissioner of the Nassau County police division, informed reporters Saturday that the chase started after New York Metropolis officers tried to cease a driver within the Jamaica neighborhood within the borough of Queens shortly after 11 p.m. Friday. The motive force tried to ram the 2 cops, placing them earlier than fleeing, Ryder mentioned.
