The sheriff’s workplace Marine Unit is investigating the incident.

Two different deadly boating incidents have occurred within the space this month. Three males and two teen boys had been killed on Nov. 2 when tough waters swamped their 21-foot vessel close to Carmet Seaside. A 13-year-old San Jose boy survived the ordeal by clinging to an ice chest.

On Nov. 4, a person was killed when his boat capsized close to Mussel Level, south of Salmon Creek.

“It’s unusual to have this many boating accidents in such a small period of time on the Sonoma coast,” Wooden mentioned.

Wooden mentioned the incidents are a reminder of the significance of “good boating safety,” which incorporates understanding climate circumstances and carrying the “right lifejacket for the right activity.”

“When you’re wearing a lifejacket, it should feel snug,” Wooden mentioned. “It should feel like a hug.”
