OAKLEY – Authorities on Monday arrested a suspect in reference to a capturing that injured a person final week in Oakley.

The suspect — recognized as a 35-year-old Antioch man — was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on expenses of tried homicide and capturing into an inhabited dwelling, based on the Oakley Police Division.

Over the weekend, detectives decided the capturing was “the culmination of an ongoing argument between the suspect and the victim that was occurring via social media platforms,” police mentioned.

The capturing occurred about 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 within the 4000 block of Macadamia Lane. Police mentioned the sufferer — a 40-year-old man — drove to the suspect’s girlfriend’s dwelling, the place the suspect pointed a rifle at him and fired a number of pictures.

Officers discovered the sufferer affected by a gunshot wound to his again at a close-by fuel station. He was taken to a hospital and is predicted to recuperate, police mentioned.

Police mentioned the rifle used within the capturing has not been recovered.

In a press release, Oakley police Chief Paul Beard famous the town has had a reprieve from gun violence since 2023.

“This incident perforated that streak in a very violent fashion and in such a way that we could have had more unintended victims,” Beard mentioned. “Any bloodshed is too much, but I am grateful nobody else was significantly injured in this incident.”
