OAKLAND — Police right here seized hundreds of packs of cigarettes and greater than $200,000 in suspected unlawful proceeds throughout the raid of an area residence earlier this month.

On Oct. 10, police raided a house on the 3100 block of Minna Avenue in Oakland, after figuring out because the suspected base of operations for an unlawful cigarette enterprise that was working at Wilma Chan Park. All informed, police seized greater than $202,000 and 15,000 cigarette packets, most of which have been imported from Germany and China, and are believed to have the next stage of nicotine than typical American cigarettes, authorities stated.

The raid got here after an nameless tipster mailed letters to police, stating they noticed suspicious exercise at Wilma Chan Park. A plainclothes Oakland police surveillance group noticed suspected illicit cigarette transactions on the park, and traced the sellers again to the Minna Avenue residence, authorities stated.

The suspects weren’t licensed to promote tobacco and the cigarettes have been untaxed, in accordance with police.
