Oakland police search public’s assist in figuring out 2021 murder suspects

OAKLAND – Police are asking for the general public’s assist in figuring out two people needed in reference to the deadly taking pictures of outstanding education-equality advocate Dirk Tillotson throughout a home-invasion theft 4 years in the past in East Oakland.

On Wednesday, the Oakland Police Division launched pictures and descriptions of the male suspects.

The primary suspect is described as 5 ft 9 inches to six ft tall with a skinny construct. Police stated he was final seen carrying a grey or light-colored hooded sweatshirt, grey or light-colored pants and light-colored sneakers.

The second suspect is described as 5 ft 9 inches to six ft tall with a medium construct. He was final seen carrying a grey or light-colored hooded sweatshirt, black or dark-colored pants with stripes and white sneakers with black trim, in line with police.

The house-invasion theft occurred round 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2021, within the 2600 block of Monticello Avenue. Police stated Tillotson, 52, was fatally shot when he confronted the suspects. The suspects additionally shot Tillotson’s spouse, Amina, however she survived.

Tillotson’s work as an education-equality advocate took him everywhere in the globe. He helped reform colleges in Qatar, labored on academic fairness points in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and expanded translation companies for college kids in Oakland.

In his Nice College Voices weblog, he wrote, “I have been called the patron saint of lost causes, the guy who will help do things when others won’t or think it’s too risky.”
