OAKLAND — An area resident has been sentenced to fifteen years in state jail for killing his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in a capturing that occurred greater than three years in the past.

Tyrone Mapp, 48, who additionally goes by Bernard Burton, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter within the Could 2021 capturing loss of life of 49-year-old Mark Downs. Mapp was recognized as a suspect from surveillance footage that confirmed the shooter carrying a particular letterman jacket, which police later decided Mapp owned.

Downs allegedly lived out of his automotive and was shot a number of ft away from the automobile, on the 2700 block of twenty sixth Avenue in Oakland. Police testified at Mapp’s preliminary listening to that when he was arrested, Mapp claimed that Downs had threatened him with a knife.
