Dorothy Lee Harris Betonte, 100, of Bridgeport handed away on Monday, October 20, 2025.

She was born in Nutter Fort on September 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Thomas and Dessie Morris Harris.

She was married to Lewis Betonte whom she married in March, 1946 and who preceded her in dying in 1986.Metropolis Lady who was Church Chief, Native Enterprise Proprietor and Operator, Dorothy Betonte, Passes at 100

Surviving are one son, Anthony Lewis Betonte and his spouse Hilde of Bridgeport; 38 grandchildren and nice grandchildren, Christannia, Soren, Kimberly, Lisa, Carlos, Steve, Jason, Ryan, Derrick, Kelliann, Timothy, Justina, Jennifer, Dane, Anthony, Trey, Sydney, Mark, Tracey, Shelley, Brandon, Hayley, Tara, Tommy, Randy, Jackie, David, Kimberly, Sydney Paige, Matthew, Lory, Matthew T., Donald, Tomisha, Myzhara, Cazira, Heather, and Andrew; and three sisters, Margaret Smith of Palm Metropolis, FL, Clarice Jenkins and her husband Harry of Stonewood and Linda Linger of Clarksburg.

She was additionally preceded in dying by 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Wesley, Valinda and David; one brother, Lawrence Harris; and two sisters, Betty Hardman and Goldie Grey.

Mrs. Betonte was a graduate of Misplaced Creek Excessive College and was the proprietor and operator of High quality Meals in Nutter Fort.

Dorothy acquired her ‘determination’ in life by beginning work with the phone firm. From there she met the love of her life Lewis Betonte and began a feed retailer in Nutter Fort. They then opened and operated High quality Meals in Nutter Fort in 1949. From there they constructed their very own Par 3 Golf Course in 1966, situated in Anmoore.

Dorothy cherished golf and ‘broke the mold’ for girls enjoying golf. She was a Grasp Golfer and lifelong member of Bridgeport Nation Membership along with her husband. She was a really energetic member of Vincent Memorial United Methodist Church, the place she was within the stitching teams, ready many meals, taught Sunday College and labored with the Youth and church camps.

Dorothy was a loving mom who made training the highest precedence, even encouraging her son Anthony to pursue the French language which formed his life. She was very pleased with her son and his travels, skill to work with individuals and educate all around the world. Dorothy cherished to journey and educate.
