The group argues that conventional measurements of financial want, such because the federal Official Poverty Measure (OPM), focus solely on subsistence and deprivation, failing to differentiate between what it prices for households to afford their most elementary wants and what it prices for them to avoid wasting sufficient for the long run – whether or not it’s to start out a household, purchase a house, cowl tuition or pay for emergency bills.
