Letters: Rash of shootings replicate a scarcity of requirements

Rash of shootings reflecta lack of requirements

Re: “Gunfire wounds troops in DC” (Web page A1, Nov. 27) and “Legendary coach shot at Laney College” (Web page A1, Nov. 14).

The final 30 years have seen heinous mass shootings of innocents turn out to be “ho-hum” occasions of on a regular basis life — from Columbine (1999) to Sandy Hook (2012) colleges; to just-engaged 20-year-old-Israelis strolling (2025) in Washington, D.C.; to Laney school soccer coach John Beam (November 2025).

Psychological well being points do happen; 100 years in the past, such shootings didn’t.

Grievances exist, however why suppose cold-blooded homicide solves something? What occurred to morals and ethics — originating from household teachings, logic or biblical dicta — required for each society’s survival? We can not perpetually blame “others.” Resume educating private accountability.

There isn’t any longer any “right” or “wrong.” Something goes. You don’t like any individual’s hat, politics or faith? Shoot them.

Are you, Mr. and Ms. America, pleased with the dearth of behavioral requirements we now have? Is anarchy — the place “anything goes” — one thing we search for our kids?
