Job drive uncovers a big cache of stolen retail items

CUPERTINO — No less than $10,000 price of stolen merchandise has been recovered to this point by means of a joint effort by the California Freeway Patrol, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Workplace and the county District Lawyer’s Workplace, authorities introduced Saturday.

Whereas the investigation started after a reported theft at a magnificence retailer, Sheriff’s officers stated the case quickly grew into a much bigger probe.

“What started as a $5,000 Ulta Beauty heist in the City of Cupertino turned into a full-blown organized retail crime investigation led by our retail theft task force,” the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Workplace stated in an announcement posted on social media.

Authorities arrested two suspects — a 33-year-old man and a 41-year-old girl, each from Oakland — in reference to the thefts. They had been booked on felony expenses of organized retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy.

Investigators stated the suspects had been related to thefts from Ulta, Goal, CVS, Walgreens, TJ Maxx, and Sally Magnificence. A search of a storage unit on San Leandro Road turned up a big haul of stolen merchandise, “worth nearly $10,000 and counting,” authorities stated.

Three extra suspects stay unidentified however are believed to be “active boosters” partaking in retail thefts throughout the Bay Space, the sheriff’s workplace stated.

The investigation is ongoing.
