ICE brokers take detained lady to Stanford Hospital for remedy

PALO ALTO — A 47-year-old lady from Guadalajara, Mexico, was taken to Stanford Hospital for remedy after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement brokers detained her Monday morning in East Palo Alto, in accordance with officers and members of the family.

She remained on the hospital Monday evening with brokers stationed exterior her room.

Talking by way of a Spanish translator, the lady’s father, Armando Rodriguez Garcia, stated his daughter, her husband and their baby have been heading to work and college when brokers stopped them. The brokers tried to detain the lady’s husband however he escaped. The lady, nevertheless, misplaced consciousness and brokers took her to the hospital.

“When she woke up, she was here in the hospital,” Garcia stated.

Garcia described the detainment as violent, noting that the brokers left marks on his granddaughter’s wrist.

Stanford Hospital spokesperson Lisa Kim confirmed authorities arrived on the hospital with an individual.

Palo Alto assistant Police Chief James Reifschneider stated he didn’t have any particulars about what ICE was doing within the space and directed inquiries to the federal company.

ICE didn’t instantly reply to a message searching for extra particulars in regards to the case.

The Speedy Response Community in Santa Clara County additionally confirmed ICE brokers have been on the hospital, writing in a Fb publish that “they appear to have brought someone in for medical care.”

“Agents are not doing enforcement inside the hospital, but they are staying with the person they brought,” the publish acknowledged.

A hospital employee who requested to not be recognized out of worry of retaliation by his employer expressed dismay on the presence of armed federal brokers contained in the hospital.

“We are very worried the patient will be released back into ICE custody, which is incredibly dangerous for her health,” the employee stated. “And we are also worried about the effects of having armed ICE agents roaming our hospital hallways for our co-workers and our other patients.”
