Hormel Meals is recalling almost 5 million kilos of foodservice ready-to-eat frozen rooster merchandise which may be “contaminated with pieces of metal,” in response to a Saturday announcement from the U.S. Division of Agriculture’s Meals Security and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The Austin, Minnesota–primarily based firm traced the contamination to steel fragments from a conveyor belt used throughout manufacturing, the company stated. The items various in dimension, measuring roughly 2mm by 17mm, FSIS informed FOX Enterprise. 

The difficulty was found after Hormel obtained a number of complaints from foodservice prospects — together with accommodations, eating places and different organizations that serve meals to folks — who reported discovering steel of their frozen rooster breast and thigh merchandise, in response to the company.

The affected gadgets, bought below the HORMEL® FIRE BRAISED™ label, have been distributed nationwide between Feb. 10 and Sept. 19, 2025.

“Hormel Foods Sales, LLC is voluntarily recalling 215,258 cases, or 4,874,815 total pounds, of five HORMEL® FIRE BRAISEDTM items sent to foodservice operators throughout the United States as they may contain extraneous metal material,” Hormel informed FOX Enterprise on Sunday. 

The recall consists of bulk instances of boneless rooster breast and thigh meat weighing 13 to 24 kilos, with merchandise codes 65009, 77531, 46750, 86206, and 134394 printed on the labels.

Each FSIS and Hormel emphasised that the merchandise weren’t bought in grocery shops or on to shoppers.

“This product is only sold to foodservice customers and cannot be purchased directly by consumers. All customers that may have received the affected product have been properly notified,” the corporate added.

FSIS cautioned that some recalled merchandise should still be saved within the freezers of economic kitchens and have been conducting routine checks to make sure the product is now not out there to shoppers. 

“These businesses are urged not to serve the product,” the company stated within the announcement. “This product should be thrown away.”
