PLEASANTON — The authorized woes of a person arrested in a Wednesday morning theft at a Hayward BART station worsened after he was discovered to have suspected medicine in his pockets whereas being booked at Santa Rita Jail, in response to authorities and court docket information.

The 40-year-old Hayward man was arrested about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday  by  BART police on suspicion of  hitting a 50-year-old man with a flashlight and stealing his backpack within the bus zone of the Hayward station, authorities stated.. The sufferer declined medical support and his backpack was recovered.

The suspect was initially arrested for  second diploma theft, assault with a weapon not a firearm and receiving recognized stolen property, all felonies.

However throughout the reserving course of at Santa Rita Jail  a number of hours later, suspected  methamphetamine and fentanyl have been present in his pockets by deputies throughout consumption procedures, in response to court docket information.

The person was formally charged Thursday with  second diploma theft,  assault with a lethal weapon,  bringing medicine right into a jail, all felonies, and violating probation.

He’s being held with out bail at Santa Rita and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday..
