Gov. Newsom subbing in for Trump at COP30 local weather change convention in Brazil

President Trump has oft dismissed local weather change as a hoax or a “con job” and isn’t sending representatives to the thirtieth United Nations Local weather Change Convention, which runs from Nov. 10 by means of 21. He has withdrawn the U.S. from worldwide local weather pacts and pledged allegiance to fossil fuels.

And he’ll have loads of firm within the Trump-clapback division at COP30. Heads of state who gathered on Thursday forward of the summit threw loads of shade at their U.S. counterpart for skipping the talks, during which nations search sustainable methods to maintain the worldwide temperature from growing greater than 2°C and attempt to cap that at 1.5°C.

“Mr. Trump is against humankind,” stated Colombian President Gustavo Petro in a speech, in line with Politico.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric equally referred to as out Trump for trashing local weather mitigation efforts on the U.N. Common Meeting in September, the place he stated the notion of human-caused local weather change is a “hoax made up by people with evil intentions.”

“That is a lie,” Boric stated Thursday, as quoted by Politico. “We might have legitimate discussions about how to face these things, but we cannot deny them.”
