Goodyear marked the a centesimal anniversary of its Goodyear Blimp this week with flights over the Ohio metropolis that’s residence to the tiremaker’s headquarters. 

Three of Goodyear’s well-known blimps flew “victory laps” collectively over Akron on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The flights have been a part of the corporate’s efforts to commemorate the centennial of its first-ever Goodyear-branded blimp’s inaugural flight. That blimp, known as Pilgrim, first flew on June 3, 1925.

The three Goodyear Blimps that participated within the “victory lap” round Akron have been Wingfoot One, Wingfoot Two and Wingfoot Three. Every measures 246 ft in size.

Images confirmed the trio of Goodyear airships flying collectively over town, together with close to the Canal Park stadium the place the Akron RubberDucks minor league baseball group performs. 

The “victory lap” flights have been on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Wingfoot One could possibly be seen donning its new black-and-silver wrap impressed by Pilgrim.

GOODYEAR BLIMP GETS VINTAGE MAKEOVER IN HONOR OF ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY

The airship obtained that classic wrap earlier within the 12 months, with Goodyear Chief Communications Officer Laura Dude saying in April that Wingfoot One’s makeover “pays homage to the rich history” of the Goodyear Blimp.

The corporate held a celebration at its Wingfoot Lake Airship Hangar within the Akron space on Tuesday – the anniversary of Pilgrim’s inaugural flight – as a part of its blimp centennial festivities, in accordance with a press launch.

Goodyear’s blimp fleet contains 4 airships in complete. The fourth, known as Europe Blimp, is predicated in Germany and a part of a partnership with Zeppelin.
