Kay determined to promote her three-bedroom household dwelling in March 2023 and purchase a $44,000 Toyota Tacoma for her travels.

She set off to Baja, Mexico, along with her black lab, Porter, and has been touring round North and South America ever since.

Among the most difficult elements of her journey have been vehicle-related, she mentioned.

“In the desert of Peru, I was two-and-a-half hours away from civilization when I had to stop and sort out a suspension issue,” she mentioned.

She additionally skilled flat tires at extraordinarily excessive elevation. “In Costa Rica, I was camping at 12,500 feet and I had a flat tire, which I had to repair on my own,” Kay recalled.

Sadly, in Aug. 2024, Kay’s canine handed away, leaving her to journey alone.
