Former San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy dies

Former San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy has died, metropolis officers introduced Saturday.

Cassidy started his public service profession serving on the San Leandro Faculty Board championing “educational excellence and equity,” metropolis officers stated.

After his time on the varsity board, Cassidy was elected to the San Leandro Metropolis Council, then later served as mayor.

“As mayor, he led with vision and integrity, advancing initiatives that promoted economic development, civic innovation, and community engagement,” metropolis officers stated. “His guiding principles of fiscal responsibility, transparency in government, and positioning San Leandro as a ‘center of innovation’ in the Bay Area, defined his leadership.”

Whereas serving as mayor, Cassidy had many accomplishments, from bolstering metropolis assets to proposing that the pleasure flag be flown at Metropolis Corridor to point out help of marriage equality.
