OAKLAND – A firefighter suffered minor burns whereas battling a blaze Monday in Oakland, in line with authorities.
The fireplace broke out round 3:20 p.m. at a two-story dwelling close to the intersection of 98th Avenue and Lawlor Avenue, Oakland fireplace Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders stated in an interview.
Sanders stated crews from a hearth station throughout the road arrived on the scene seconds later.
“We ended up going to two alarms due to the amount of fire that was coming up through the roof on arrival,” he stated.
The fireplace was rapidly knocked down.
“Crews did a great job putting a stop on this fire and keeping it from extending to other houses,” Sanders stated.
One firefighter suffered minor burns to his shoulder, Sanders stated. He was handled on the scene.
There was a report of a second burn sufferer, however crews didn’t discover anybody else with accidents on the scene, Sanders stated. He famous that electrical energy and fuel had been beforehand turned off to the house.
“It’s obviously a hoarder/unhoused-living-type scenario,” Sanders stated.
The reason for the hearth is underneath investigation.
