INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (AP) — A 7-year-old woman was killed by a falling boulder at a preferred Lake Tahoe ski mountain over the weekend, authorities and the Nevada resort mentioned.
Emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon to a “non-skiing accident involving a child” at Diamond Peak in Incline Village, the resort mentioned in an announcement.
The woman was climbing on a hillside close to the bottom lodge when “a large rock became dislodged from the slope and struck the child,” the assertion mentioned.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Workplace recognized her as 7-year-old Adelyn Grimes of Reno.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the child involved,” the resort mentioned.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it was investigating, however no foul play was concerned.
Diamond Peak is about 30 miles south of Reno on the northeast fringe of Lake Tahoe.
