El Cerrito detectives make arrest in Could sexual assault

EL CERRITO – Authorities on Wednesday arrested a suspect in reference to a sexual assault earlier this 12 months in El Cerrito.

The episode occurred between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Could 18 on the Ohlone Greenway, between Hill Road and Blake Road, based on the El Cerrito Police Division.

The suspect met the sufferer on the Del Norte BART station earlier than abducting and sexually assaulting her, police mentioned.

On Tuesday, detectives recognized the suspect as an 18-year-old Richmond man after receiving a notification from the Mixed DNA Index System, based on police.

Police mentioned a Contra Costa County Superior Courtroom decide signed a warrant for the person’s arrest, and on Wednesday, detectives and officers took him into custody as he left the courthouse in Martinez after making an look in an unrelated case.

The person was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant. His bail was set at $1.53 million.

The case will probably be forwarded to the district lawyer’s workplace for assessment, based on police.
