Downtown San Jose’s swanky Rollati Ristorante is abruptly closing

Vine Hospitality, the possession group, mentioned it will be “taking this opportunity to refocus resources on our original San Jose locations” — Left Financial institution Brasserie, LB Steak and Meso Trendy Mediterranean, all situated at Santana Row.

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support since the day Rollati opened. Every meal, every celebration, and every memory shared with us has meant the world,” the letter mentioned. “While this chapter comes to an end, you can continue to enjoy unforgettable dining experiences at our sister restaurants in San Jose.”

The bottom-floor anchor for downtown San Jose’s highest towers, the Miro residences, Rollati was credited with ushering in a brand new period of upscale eating downtown. That opening, instantly throughout from San Jose’s distinctive Metropolis Corridor, was adopted by Eos & Nyx final 12 months on Paseo de San Antonio and The Pressroom at San Pedro Sq. earlier this 12 months.

And coming this fall to downtown is one other high-end participant. Poppy & Claro is scheduled to open in early October on the bottom flooring of the 50 W. San Fernando St. high-rise, the previous residence of KQED and the Capital Membership.

“While it’s a shame to see a well-loved restaurant like Rollati close their doors, I think it’s a testament to the turnaround of downtown San Jose to see many high-caliber restaurants choosing to make the downtown home,” mentioned Gumby Marques, the San Jose Downtown Affiliation interim CEO, who cited that trio of companies.

“I am aware of other destination restaurants coming soon as well,” he added, “and I have little doubt that a great new establishment will soon arise in the beautiful space provided by the prestigious Miro.”

Rollati made its debut within the luxurious towers within the fall of 2023. It was the primary modern Italian idea for Vine Hospitality, the dad or mum firm of the Bay Space’s best-known group of French bistros, Left Financial institution, with areas in Menlo Park and Larkspur in addition to San Jose.

The practically 7,000-square-foot Rollati at Fourth and Santa Clara streets, with huge lounge and eating areas, provides window views of the postmodern Metropolis Corridor dome and tower in addition to the Sonic Runway artwork set up.

After launching with dinner service — handmade pastas, signature lasagna and rabbit agrodolce dishes, pizzas baked in an 800-degree Neapolitan oven — Rollati added weekday lunch and pleased hour bites plus an Italian-style weekend brunch.

This can be a growing story. Come again for updates.
