Chhattisgarh courtroom rejects Kerala nuns’ bail pleas | India Information

RAIPUR: A classes courtroom in Chhattisgarh’s Durg disposed of Wednesday the bail pleas of two Kerala-based Catholic nuns arrested for alleged human trafficking and compelled spiritual conversion, citing lack of jurisdiction. The courtroom directed the petitioners to strategy the designated NIA courtroom in Bilaspur for aid.Nuns Preethi Merry and Vandana Francis, together with tribal youth Sukhmai Mandavi, have been arrested by railway police (GRP) at Durg station on July 25 following a criticism from a Bajrang Dal functionary. The criticism accused them of trying to forcibly convert and site visitors three tribal ladies from Narayanpur district beneath the pretext of providing employment.The classes courtroom stated it lacked authority beneath Part 143 of BNS, which offers with human trafficking.
