Canine going through euthanization stolen from Oakland Animal Companies shelter

OAKLAND — A pit bull going through euthanization after biting a toddler was stolen final week from the Oakland Animal Companies shelter, authorities stated.

Each the canine and thief have been being sought Monday by police.

The theft occurred someday between 5 a.m. and seven a.m. July 24 on the shelter, which is situated at 1101 twenty ninth Avenue in East Oakland.

Deputy Metropolis Administrator Joe DeVries, who’s the shelter’s appearing director, known as the theft disturbing.

“The dog is vicious. It’s a dangerous animal and should not be out,” he stated.

The canine had been taken into custody greater than a month in the past after biting a toddler who was driving a bicycle in East Oakland. Somebody had tied the pit bull up on an RV, and it lunged on the little one — stated to be a woman underneath 10 — and severely bit her.

The canine was scheduled to be put down on July 25 however a day earlier on July 24 somebody broke right into a rear window on the shelter and took the pit bull, authorities stated.
