Caltrans closes two Caldecott Tunnel bores as a consequence of emergency

OAKLAND – Two bores of the Caldecott Tunnel have been closed Christmas Eve as a consequence of a “storm-related electrical emergency,” in response to the California Division of Transportation.

As of seven p.m., eastbound Bore 1 and westbound Bore 3 have been closed. Caltrans stated site visitors continues to be flowing in each instructions by way of westbound Bore 2 and eastbound Bore 4.

There isn’t a estimated time for a full reopening, however “crews are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible,” Caltrans stated. Motorists are suggested to count on delays and permit further time for his or her commute or use alternate routes.

The bore closures got here amidst a sequence of highly effective storms, which have knocked out energy, flooded streets and felled timber all through the area.
