Bicyclist hit by driver in Palo Alto dies from accidents

PALO ALTO — A bicyclist who was hit by a driver earlier this month in Palo Alto died Wednesday of his accidents, police mentioned.

The collision occurred round 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 4 within the 3400 block of Foothill Expressway, close to Hillview Avenue, based on the Palo Alto Police Division.

An preliminary investigation decided the bicyclist, a person in his 80s, was touring southbound within the bicycle lane when he moved into the visitors lanes and was hit by a 2022 Mercedes-Benz, police mentioned.

The bicyclist suffered a significant head damage within the crash, police mentioned, including that he was carrying a helmet on the time. He was taken to an space hospital, the place he later died.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Workplace will launch the person’s id after it’s confirmed and his subsequent of kin is notified.
