Mary Anne Diamond, 103, of Bridgeport, handed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Mt. Macrina Manor in Uniontown, PA. She was born on Could 20, 1922 in Clarksburg, the daughter of the late Andrew Constantine and Elizabeth L. Sotak Kniska. Mary Anne was preceded in demise by her beloved husband, John H. Diamond who was Chief of Police in Bridgeport for a few years.
Mary was a 1939 graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson Excessive Faculty. She attended West Virginia Enterprise Faculty and educated as a Medical File Librarian at St. Mary’s Hospital. Throughout WWII, she was employed by Goodyear Plane in Akron, Ohio. No atypical “Rosie”, she was chosen to develop into a member of the “Squadron”, a troubleshooting group educated for proficiency in all sides within the growth and manufacture of the Corsair plane, which drastically assisted the USA battle effort. She was the primary lady in Goodyear’s Industrial Engineering Division, Time Examine Division.
After the Conflict, in Clarksburg, she served as medical secretary to Dr. Lynwood D. Zinn for 27 years.
In 1951 she married John Diamond in a double ring ceremony with Carl and Betty Furbee.
Mary Anne was a member of Holy Rosary Slovak Catholic church in Clarksburg, and All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport. She was energetic in native enterprise ladies’s teams, civic organizations, and the United Hospital Middle Auxiliary. She was previous President of the Bridgeport Backyard Membership. In 1978 she accomplished Flower Present Faculty and was accredited as an Worldwide Flower Present Choose for the Nationwide Council of Backyard Golf equipment.
She was predeceased by her husband John, her sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Kniska Furbee and Cecilia Kniska Madzin Davish, in addition to brothers Michael Kniska, Andrew Kniska, William Kniska, Joseph Kniska, Thomas Kniska, Daniel Kniska, John Kniska and Paul Kniska. Her brother, Nicholas E. Kniska survives in addition to many nieces and nephews.
