Three-alarm fireplace breaks out at deserted San Jose youth heart

SAN JOSE — Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze that broke out at an deserted youth heart early Friday morning, authorities mentioned.

The hearth began on the constructing that previously housed the Mexican American Neighborhood Providers Company, or MACSA, Youth Heart on the 600 block of Sinclair Drive, in response to a social media put up from the San Jose Fireplace Division. The blaze was referred to as in at 1:08 a.m.

Firefighters carried out defensive operations and have been capable of hold the fireplace from spreading past the constructing, authorities mentioned.

“Fire has been challenging to fully knock down due to many enclosed compartments within the structure,” authorities added.

Firefighters have been set to stay on scene all through Friday to observe for fireplace, authorities mentioned.

There have been no reported accidents, authorities added. The reason for the fireplace stays underneath investigation.

The MACSA Youth Heart constructing appeared on the San Jose Preservation Motion Council’s “Endangered 8” record in 2025, which gathers collectively architectural landmarks believed to be endangered.
