Bay Space sanitation employees are set to return to their jobs Saturday after Republic Providers and a union reached an settlement Friday, bringing the strike to an finish because it entered its second week, based on an announcement from Republic Providers.

Republic Providers reached a tentative settlement with Teamsters Native 439 and the staff of Ahead Landfill in Manteca, the corporate stated.

“We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this situation, and we will work hard to catch up with needed recycling and waste collection as quickly as we can,” the corporate stated.

Sanitation employees throughout the Bay Space walked off the job final week in solidarity with Ahead Landfill staff, who went on strike in a push for larger wages and higher advantages. The strike was considered one of a number of in a nationwide rubbish “war” between the Teamsters and Republic Providers.

“The strike is over and we can expect the garbage to finally be picked up,” he added.
