South Bay man arrested on suspicion of creating ‘inappropriate gestures’

MOUNTAIN VIEW — A 25-year-old Sunnyvale man was arrested on suspicion of creating “inappropriate gestures” at a pair of younger youngsters Tuesday in downtown Mountain View, police stated.

Round 3:45 p.m., officers have been dispatched to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue for a report of suspicious circumstances, in accordance with the Mountain View Police Division.

Witnesses described two an identical incidents through which a person approached two youngsters, ages 4 and 6, and made inappropriate gestures at them earlier than being chased away by witnesses, police stated. The person didn’t contact or injure both baby.

Officers discovered the person close by and detained him. After witnesses recognized him as the person who made the gestures, he was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on fees of contacting a minor with intent to commit a lewd act and annoying or molesting a baby.

He remained in custody Friday on the Elmwood Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail, in accordance with jail information.

Detectives are looking for further potential victims and witnesses, police stated.
