Stanford set an NCAA softball attendance document on Saturday, drawing a crowd of 13,207 to its soccer stadium on a sun-splashed afternoon for the ultimate recreation of The Massive Swing collection in opposition to rival Cal.

The Bears spoiled the festive day, successful 10-8 to keep away from being swept within the three-game collection.

The attendance quantity broke the earlier document of 12,566, set on the primary day of the 2024 Girls’s School World Sequence final Might. The common season document was 8,930, which Oklahoma set for a recreation in opposition to Texas in March 2023.

The chance for Stanford to interrupt the attendance mark was one of many advantages of enjoying dwelling video games at Stanford Stadium this season as this system’s softball facility undergoes a $50 million renovation.

As of late within the week, Stanford had bought 11,100 tickets for the collection finale because it sought to interrupt the document.

On its web site, the college requested followers to come back out on Saturday “when Stanford softball swings for the fences and looks for a record-breaking crowd at The Big Swing.”

The primary two video games of the collection drew a lot smaller crowds.

On Thursday, 737 attended Stanford’s 7-4 victory over the Bears. On Friday, a crowd of 1,437 watched the Cardinal win 9-3.

Saturday’s recreation began with former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, now the soccer program’s basic supervisor, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
